With thousands of people attending
No matter what time of day, on the hour, half hour, quarter till, anywhere students can expect to see bodies scattered all over the campus, waiting, sleeping, munching until the clock rolls around to the next course.
Students like Brendan Hesse, with only a short hour to spare between his classes this term, described how he can perfectly well fill up his time grabbing lunch in the cafeteria and hanging out in the always eventful and interesting crowd that lounges in the Community Center cushion maroon chairs. In the Niemeyer Center, Jordan Prince passes his time hanging out on the couches with fellow arts and music appreciators. Other times, he takes advantage of Niemeyer’s creative aspects and pays the piano and guitar in the sound rooms.
Barlow Hall, nearly every morning, is filled with students typing away at their laptop computers, progressively working on research papers and homework for the upcoming class. Those who save homework for home and spend their precious minutes checking up on the latest Facebook wall posts and new Youtube subscriptions see using free time for work as poor time management.
“There’s a reason they call it homework,” Michael Tidwell said as he scrolled down the page of his unread e-mail messages, “and I like to spend my time wisely.”
If school isn’t driving her crazy enough, spending time on campus is just not an option for Hannah Nyrop, who always has an escape route through the in and out mass of cars in the parking lot.
